Health Benefits
Olive oil is rich in healthy
monounsaturated fats. It is a rich source of antioxidants, specially the extra
virgin olive oil. The monounsaturated fat in olive oil, called oleic acid is
extremely healthy. Oleic acid is believed to help reduce inflammation which in
turn reduces the risk of strokes and cancer. Olive oil is also loaded with
powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants are biologically active and help
build up the immunity of the body. The antioxidants also fight inflammation
thus preventing the cholesterol from getting oxidized in our blood thereby
reducing the risk of heart diseases.
Word of caution
All cooking oils are equal when you
are measuring calories. Regardless of what kind of oil you are using, oil is
classified naturally as a fat. So,
consider how much fat you want to add to your diet before adding the oil.
